Summer Camp

Summer at Aquinas Montessori School
A Season of Discovery, Friendship, and Joy

Summer at Aquinas Montessori School is a vibrant blend of learning, exploration, and outdoor fun. Each morning, campers are guided by professionally trained Montessori teachers as they engage in hands-on activities across a rich array of subjects—including language, mathematics, biology, geography, art, and music. In this nurturing and thoughtfully prepared environment, children deepen their curiosity, develop skills, and connect meaningfully with their classmates and teachers.

Our beautiful, wooded campus offers plenty of room for outdoor play and discovery. Campers enjoy time in our spacious playground as well as in our thriving Children’s Garden, where they harvest the fruits—and vegetables—of their labor from the school year. These fresh, homegrown ingredients are used for snacks and other practical activities. The pollinator garden and milkweed patch attract butterflies and other fascinating wildlife, providing natural opportunities for observation and wonder.

Each afternoon, children cool off in our on-site swimming pool, which ranges from two and a half to five feet in depth. Its small size and shallow entry make it ideal for beginning and developing swimmers. Under the watchful eye of our trained lifeguard, even the youngest campers grow more confident in the water—often making remarkable progress within just a few weeks. Children who are still developing swimming skills wear life vests until they are ready to swim independently and safely.

At Aquinas Montessori Summer Day Camp, we support children as they grow into capable, joyful individuals who are connected to their environment and community. We invite you to give your child the gift of a summer filled with learning, friendships, and the delight of discovery.

Getting Ready for Camp
Children should dress for comfortable outdoor play. Campers do not need to wear school uniforms at camp.  Shoes should be appropriate for playing on the mulched and graveled areas of our playground.

All campers should bring a labeled water bottle. Your child should come to camp with sunscreen already applied. Send in extra sunscreen in a labeled bottle.

Please send a lunch in a lunch box with your child's name on it. No refrigerators or microwaves are available for use for camper’s lunches.

Children staying after 3:00 should pack an extra snack for aftercare.

All camp attendees must be able to utilize the bathroom facilities independently.

My children loved being at Aquinas Summer Camp last summer. They loved being outside for most of the day playing among the shade trees and having the swimming pool right there. I honestly can't imagine a better place to spend the summer in the Alexandria area.
